A New Venue

I have to admit, that I have not been posting catch reports lately, because i'm on a run of blanks...but here goes

Both myself and Kevin (baitmaster) liked the look of a venue, we both have not fished much.
We met up and agreed where to head for and start viewing likely spots on our chosen venue.
Now this is where Fenland fishing differs from most other types of locations - identifying features: it may sound obvious, but the features arn't. Kevin pointed out that the three reasons for this location:

The slow bend in the stretch
Power lines upstream (a safe distance away of course!)
The bridge downstrean

We caught some good bait downstream and set up quickly, with the plan to fish until Midnight.

A couple of local coppers pulled up - being from Liverpool, my first instinct was to run and hide - but they were just stopping for a chat, one of them was into Carp fishing and mentioned he knew Mick Brown. We had a bit of a laugh and a joke and they wished us well with the fishing.

Now both Kevin and myself, knew that this was a "all or nothing" water - we wouldn't get many runs, but if we had any, the liklehood (we hoped!) would that it would be a large Zander.

Unfortunatly, all was quite for the whole session. I'm confident we fished well and on those swims, we couldn't have done any more to get a run.

The attraction to that venue had to be explored, as the water, conditions etc all looked very good - I guess that big Zander, just didn't come in our direction on the night.

Still we had a hell of a good laugh, discussed many idea's and theories on fishing.

Oh, and Kevin complemented me on my abilityto keep all my gear neat and tidy in one place!

Barrie
