when its time ??

with the weather turning cold and wintery according to the weather man i made a decision to go zedding as i missed out by a matter of hours of catching a zed in the snow and there was a good chance of it laying and it would make such a good picture .
i also wanted to get up there early enough so i could drive around the various drains checking out new area,s .
it was good to drive around stopping off at various spots watching the grebes diving after fish (sorry but it dived just as i took the pic )

i all way like watching the grebes diving and chasing fish and think of the predators below doing exactly the same but in reverse of the grebes .
after noting a couple of likely spots i headed off to go catch a bucket of bait for the evening session
and i knew just the spot i was going to go a catch a few from as this was very close to the place i wanted to fish tonight .
so i was soons catching roach on single red maggot one a chuck with this done

with this done i gathered up my tackle and headed to where i was going to fish it looked really good and with the sky filled with very heavy looking clouds that looked like they were going to drop there contents i was really confident that i was going to finally achieve one of my quest (a zed in the snow )
so with rods all set up and baited and out i now sat back and waited for the snow and the fish but with in the hours the clouds dispersed and the skies cleared out and the north /westerly also dropped which was comfotable to fish in but was not what i was hoping for .
now my chances of a snowy picture was gone and i was a bit disappointed
so a recast the rods and sat back again and waited for action to develop .
but then i started to think of time spent up here chasing my quest of a giant zed and year after year it never happened and i thought i,m kidding myself that i can catch one.
i looked at my watch it was exactly 7pm it was done i,de consciously made my decision i,de had enough , i released the fish from the bucket wished them well then packed up and drove home

It must be very hard mate but sometimes you just fancy calling it a day because you want to

The massive zander will come and it will probable be right out of the blue

Now letting all thoughs fish go might have just pushed the balance your way

Good report Kev. Don't worry too much about the big Zed. It'll come mate, you've just got to keep plugging away and in the mean time just try to enjoy being out there.
