| zander caught from the river yare well it had to happen sooner or later and now its been confirmed the first capture of a zander from my local river yare . my local river has produced a zed it saddens me because i really hoped that the broads could have stayed free from zander but it was inevitable it would eventually turn one up . although i love catching them the broads have all ways been a big mecca for pike anglers over the years and the broads have enough problems and an introduction of another predator is not going to help them in any way. i,m assuming here that they have been illegally stocked by some idiotic anglers who not thought through there actions but you guest it will be the zander that will be the one that will now be blamed if the fishing declines now on the broads although it is suffering through other problems all ready . but its now going to be interesting to see whether further capture turn up and if they establish themselfs like other water systems . tightlines kevin ![]() |

| Re: zander caught from the river yare I think that as a species, Zander are now so well established in this country, that there's no stopping em. Don't think they are a real problem though. They seem to find their place in the balance of things. I know theres talk of the waterboards using canals & rivers to pump water around the country to ease the water shortage. If the Zander fry get carried around that way, they will spread like wildfire & there won't be much that we can do to stop it. My main concern with that is the spread of fish diseases like Carp Herpes virus. __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org |
