Smile sharpness canal meet up sat 9th

well we should have guessed how today was going to go
as leaving late (omen number 1)( due to fiesty fpo) get call from ian, whos car blew the rear box on way there so would be back later (omen number 2)
then i get lost in estate getting to venue , but got there and found steve (warmit) there already so went back got my stuff
(met ian wo had just returned and whilst chatting managed to shut boot on spinning rod tip (oh well guess wont be doing that today, omen number 3)
went back and set up on very slippery and steep canal bank
water was very coloured due to recent rain

ian was already trying vainly for a roach( bad omen number 4)

then twiddles(joahna & possibly omen number 5 running away already) and mike arrived loaded to the gunnels

well the fishing was none too hectic so i went on a rekkie arround corner and set up camp round there for a bit nice area as flat from path to bank (but nothing here either) so returned and nicked warmets swim after he left
then at last some activity as ian managed a small jack pike

which made a real mess of ians swim

unfortunately we tried everything else but nothing happened
mike fishing

it was definately getting chilly now (frost on ground gave that away ) so decided to call it quits , being real gentlemen we stood at top of bank and used our headlamps to light claudias route back up bank with her heavy tackle box lol

well she was multitasking with phone as well

then a swift pint in local before heding home with grovelling gift of cheezychips with garlic mayo for the FPO

a nice day but hard fishing for the invisible zander

dave
so slid off to pub for

Re: sharpness canal meet up sat 9th

Oi Pingu...who are you calling a jonah???? And how many fish did you catch today?? bleeehhhhh

Mike and I arrived around midday, parked the car at the pub carpark, so we decided to go for a pint and a bite to eat before meeting up with Ian, Dave and Steve, (btw was great meeting you Steve, shame you had to leave early)....we all struggled at our swims as they very steep and muddy, glad Dave wasn't around with his cam when I slipped and slid down on my rear end lol.

Ian was the lucky one today, well done on the Jack, whilst the rest of us didn't even had a hinch of a bite, nevertheless, it was great meeting up with the guys again.

Better luck next time and the pint after went down a treat

Re: sharpness canal meet up sat 9th

great pics Dave, I did not expect to see them till tomorrow, I thought the FPO would give you gip for going online when you got back.

Was good to have a meet up, despite the lack of fish, and good to meet a new member ( Steve). Have you noticed us four seem to be the hard core for these mini meets, must have a sea one soon after Xmas, was some talk of Chesil, what do you reckon?

Mike

Well done on your jack pike Ian.
