blowing in the wind

well last night i was out again hoping my good fortune of late would continue so after a phone call to Barrie soon had us up for a session i.
i was able to get down to the drains earlier that Barrie which would give me a good chance to see where was fishable with out it becoming a endurance session instead of pleasure as at the end of the day you want to enjoy your fishing .
soon i had our location sorted and a quick text to barrie made sure he knew where to head for .
i got a chance to chat to a couple of angler and get the low down on what had been happening of later and i was told about of a brace of3lb perch that was caught by a young lad recently ( welldone young man i,m totally envious ).
as time was getting on i had to get set up now with the barometer reading 991mb and good cloud cover and the water being chopped up by the wind i was really confident and so was Barrie when he arrive we were both soon set up with baits in the water and we got down to having a general chat about wandering and what we hope would come along later .
now normally i will work my bait really hard and every 20 minutes or so i twitch and recast them but as this was an area i did not know to well i went for the more static approach hoping to intercept any fish that would pass by through the swims . and if anything changed with runs i can up my approach .
we both kept our eyes on the water well where it was calm to see if any fish were about in the margins .
it was clear by 8pm that it was going to be very difficult i,m not sure what was keeping the fish from feeding maybe there was not any zeds in our area that i had picked for us to fish .
we recast all the rods into relatively the same area,s and i got back to thinking what the fish had decided to boycott the baits .
now i don,t make any excuses up when i blank a blank is a blank but i do believe you learn from blanks cause you ask yourself why .
any way as it turned out we did blank but we both enjoyed the session regardless and that's what really matters .

Like you say, a blank isn't so bad as long as you came away from the session having learnt something.

Sometimes fishing isn't all about catching fish (if that makes any sense)...
Just being out, relaxing, at one with yourself - recharge the batteries - and the next time you go out, you're ready for them!
