not turning up

well again i decided to go wedding and i had arranged to meet my brother for a session .
so i told him where i would take him and of i went .
while i was waiting out came the bait catching rod and i fished tares and cattied hemp over the top and it was a roach a chuck and i have to say some over three quarters of a pound and all fought hard . soon i had enough and carried on fishing as it was really fun and i was enjoying catching these roach .
as the afternoon passed two lads from Manchester came down and had a chat and was asking me where they ought to go zedding as they had been down already 1 night and had nothing of the gt ouse .
i reeled in my rod in and walked up to the car and placed my O/S map across the bonnet showing them various waters that they could possibly fish .
they decided after are chat if that they would stay on the drain we were on .
so i pointed out several spots along the length of the drain they ought to try.
they also wanted to know what tactics were working best at the moment i told then several rigs that would normally work i also told them free roving lives work well first thing in the morning on here but with the condition of the drain with the colour dropping out that they would ,more likely catch pike on them first thing in the morning more than the zeds unless it clouded over then they might be about .
they thanked me and off they went up to my right on the opposite bank which i thought was an unwise decision especially after i told them all the action was coming on this side of the drain .
i received a text of my brother and he could not make it which i was bit annoyed about as i just set up all my wedding gear as time was getting on and had took the bait catching back to the car .
so i stayed where i was but this is not a spot i would normally fish as i picked it for the chance for my brother to catch a zed .
any way every thing was out two ledger paternosters with traceswitch size 8,s and a buoyant ledger stem cast to the far side again with a trace with 8,s on it .
i sat back popped the kettle on and waited not long after i finished my coffee my right hand margin rod spluttered into life and i struck quickly and connected with what at first i thought wasa pike but when it surface it was a nice medium zed
i unhooked it quickly then realized i had not got the camera set up (DOH!)
so no pick was taken but i weighed it and it went 6lb 40z .
i released this and went about setting up the camera with this done the rod was back out .
i took the opportunity to recast my rods as it was now getting dark and i made sure every thing was to hand last thing you want is to be looking for your forceps in the dark .
next to go off was my left hand margin rod and this felt a good fish and it tried to power it way into the lilles but i was not going to let it get in there i was thinking yes a better zed this time but when it came to the top it was a pike about 8 to 10lb it thrashed about on top and tried to tail walk but it just seem to not quite get it right . in the torch light i could see a flying treble so decided i would chin it out ( care must be taken when doing this if unsure net it ).
as i leapt forward it started to shake its head like a dog and the other hook came free and it made its escape.
this was soon redecorated with afresh roach and flicked just beyond the lillies .i took the chance and made another brew .
another 30 minutes went by and the rod i just recast started to show sign of kicking of and sure enough another zed was hooked this

this was soon back in and it head slowly back into the lilies to sulk .
the rod was again despatched behind the lillieswhen my other margin rod wasoff and on striking had not got a lot of resisting and in no time at all i was looking at a spritely little zed .a quick pick (well not all got to be big to have a picture )

this was soon put back and the rod was sent back down the inside margin .
i soon was back in my seat thinking this is schoolie central here .
i made a decision to pack up but before i went home i would walk up to see how the other two lads were getting on .
when i finally got down to them i asked how they were getting on but they had not had any and this seem to just confirm what i had been saying about the opposite bank not producing any fish and even my own far bank rod again stayed quiet .
i all most certain about why they not getting caught over that side but a few more session will see if i,m onto something but i,m sure it will change by November and zeds will come of the far side .

tightlines
Kevin
