a bonus sesh

well today not been the best in the world and some times and i just had to get out for a few hours this evening .
so you guest it i went zedding to chill out i only had a few deads with me and as time was getting on i knew i would not have time to catch any baits .
i got to the drain in question and the dreaded duck weed was covering the edges of the drain .
now if you never had the chance to fish with this duck weed in front of you i,ll tell you now it gets every where up you line on you and especially in the landing net which then goes every where .
i changed to a straight simple running lead set up on one rod as i only had deads and the other two were kept on ledger stem set ups all the traces had size 8 semi barbed .
again tactics were to fish one in the middle one a third out and the other tight down the margin .
now it was really overcast and then it started to rain hard and nothing happened for a couple of hours but i constantly every twenty minutes would work and move the baits to try and entice a take but nothing except me getting very wet .
finally around nine o,clock it stopped raining and i sensed action and sure enough the simple lead rig was away very sharp run i instantly hit into it but nothing .
this was checked and cast out to the middle .
suddenly my margin rod with a small stabbed dead was away and it did not stop the bobbin hit the top of the rod but it kept taken line i finally got to the rod and swept it back and the satisfying curve could be seen in the rod and then the thump it stayed close and deep and i tried to play it out away from the reeds and lillies close in but it took a while to manage this i had to put the torch on as i was in a bit of a mess and i gave out just beyond the lillie and then i caught sight of the zanders reflective eye which all ways looks cool in the water i guided it to the waiting net and scooped it up .
i soon had it unhooked and weighed it at 7lb 8oz i was happy

.i took a couple of photoes and release it quickly .
i noticed that the drain had started to move as they had alot of rain lately so the drain was being pulled of and keeping position was going to be near on imposible so i packed up .

PS: i also meant to mention while i was sitting waiting a mink came out of the water with a eel in its mouth and sat about two foot away and had a chop but sadly it move as soon a i went for the camera was really nice to see one that close smaller than i thought .

tightlines
kevin
