zander gives me inspiration

well as you all know my enthusiasm has been wavering a bit so to put me back on track i thought i would look through my zander pictures and this picture gets me fired up every time i look at it .so i thought i would share it with yourselfs i hope you agree a cracking picture and show the true beauty off to the fullest (no wonder its inspires me)
12lb

well with this i got the gear out and started to get things ready for the up and coming zed season .
it funny how a picture or an action can ignite a nearly lost spark .
so with also the thought that i might be joined in my exploits by some of my fellow forum buddies i,m now actually looking forward to getting out there and if this cooler weather continues it could be earlier than i normally would go .
so i here you ask what is need to get ready well firstly a restocking on my trace case was needed so traces have been made up to suit the different combination of hook set ups i use
any tackle in my tackle box that looks like is getting low is restocked .
the rods have been checked to make sure my much beloved custom built 2lb test ballista,s were not damaged .
then it was to check over my OSmaps for area,s which were marked at the end of last season were refreshed so i know where i,m heading to investigate at certain time through out the season and i was surprised how many area,s i,de mark.
then i check over my fishing log which i will quietly read over the next few evenings to remind myself of comments and suggestion i,ve made to myself to either improve my fishing or mistakes i made and must put right and any idea,s i tried out (that reminds me must let richard know how i got on with that idea ).
so there is lots of prepping to be done and looks like lots to look forward to aswell .
i hope i do aswell as i did 05/06

tightlines
kevin

Re: zander gives me inspiration

Cracking post Kev, with a cracking pic of a wonderful fish.

Can't wait to get out fishing with you to try for one of my own (as long as it's not 16lb+ )

Bit worried about you Gullyworm, I prefer Blondes myself....

Nice to see you getting enthusiastic again Kev. I think the nearest Zander around here are in the Severn.

Re: zander gives me inspiration

yes they are in the seven and in the warwickshire avon to there are places dotted around england that contain them from famous carp waters like bury hill, coombe abbey lakes to the famous trout water grafham water too, its still not known how far they have spread by either illegal stocking or geniune stockings it would be interesting to find to what exstent they have been move or manage to get in like the midland canals where they now can get access to other waters from here by themselfs
you only have to look at the early history of zeds(first stocking 1963 ,100 fingerlings into the relief channel norfolk ) to see how quick they adapted and moved into near by waters by interlocking waters

I used to work with some lads who d worked on Hull trawlers back in the 70s,some of the things they did to skate on a three week trip were unmentionable
I much prefer dogfish or a bit of Smut

Re: zander gives me inspiration

a truly beautiful fish kev,i just know you are going to pull in one of 20lb this winter,i have a feeling in my water.
its funny you were thinking about zeds,i was thinking about pike this afternoon,i had a drive down to my water and had a good look round, found two or three spots that may just hold a fish or two,
its strange, perhaps its because the weather has turned autumnal that we are thinking like this,
can't wait to get started now !
