zeds

well i was still reeling from the capture of the two doubles in the one session and was aching to get back down on the drains and fish were i had them from, but first i had to have a meeting with the dreaded education authority once this was done a few compliment to my better half saw me right .
on arrival i had a look at the drain and it was running and just as i like it but there was not a lot of colour which can be a problem. but i was soon down at the swim and rods were soon put in there spots with one exception to methods tonight i decided to go with the sunken float paternoster ,
an hour went by and no runs were coming and i was starting to think i should have moved further down when out of the blue the middle rod gave a couple of bleeps ,
i slowly moved to the rod and it went again this tis lifting the boobin about 6inches i snatch the rod out of the rest and struck it back to watch the tip stay low and start to bump ,
i reach back and pulled the landing net to the water edge trying to play the now fish which tried to get into the dying reeds under my feet but i soon had it netted and weighed 9lb a few pic were taken and once again the fish was released to cause more havoc.
was the rod was back out and every thing was calm my thought drifted to the other night thinking could i catch a bigger one .
i recast all the rods and repositioned them just a bit further out thinking with the water being a bit clearer the zeds might stay a bit deeper . soon the sunken float was away it did not stop and the bobbin just steadly rose all the was to the rod i struck the rod and it satisfyingly arced over and the destintive thump transmitted through the rod the fish stayed deep and was not going to give up lightly and i applied the gently pressure needed but it resisted with all it could and took a dive shaking it head in anger at me .
soon i had it beat and as it was sliding over the net string i thought (bloody hell that looks big ) on lifting the net i knew it was a double but how big i would have to wait as i wanted to turn the torch on there and then to look but being at the waters edge i could not,
i carried it to the unhooking mat and put the light on and as i moved the mess from it i could see it was big .
i was now total and utterly a gobsmacked and i soon had it unhooked and also removed another set of trebles from it that another angler had oviously lost .
the scales were zeroed and the fish was placed in the sling and on lifting the net i was a bit surprised but happy when the scaled stopped at 14lb once again pics were taken and the fish was left to recover for a while in the margins in my staked out landing net while i
when i was happy that the fish was recovered i released it and wished it well and watched it sink in the depths i sat for a moment staring into the water and gathering my thought and the returned to the swim .i was so happy and really did not care if i got another fish .
but as my luck is really running at the moment i did not get my wish as my left hand rod signaled a take i scramble to the rod and felt another good fish attached and it really did not want to come in but i soon had it in the net and this also looked another good zed upon weighing it the scales stopped a 9.12 and pics again were taken and the fished released .
at this point i decided that i had had a good session and packed up and the journey home was all that sweeter .

tightlines
