zeds

well once again i have been and what a night it was i arrived at 3.30 and quickly made my way to my swim and set up my rods as it was getting dark once all was set i retired to my seat and was quickly up to a small jack of about 3lb this was promptly put back and another bait despatch i had just got back to my seat when the same rod shot off once again i was on it quickly and once again a small jack was soon banked . it was now just starting to get dark and i sat back to drink a welcomed coffee i hope the zeds were going to feed , i had not off worried cause soon my end rod was signaling some murderous antics going on below i soon scramble down to the rod and the destictive thump told me a zed was attached , and trying to escape but it was soon overcome and slipped into the net i weighed it and photo,s were taken and this went 8.12 (well least the zed are feeding i thought ) . the rod was soon back in position awaiting another run .
i was soon back in action as my second rod along roared off and once again i was on it in a flash and on sweeping the rod back thump thump went the tip and i was again playing another zed that felt good it was soon beaten and brought up to the unhooking mat for the customary pics and weighing this went 8.8 .
this rod was put back out and i returned to my seat but never got there as the rod i just cast out was off like a bat out of hell i struck into a small fish and there was really no fight and it was soon unhooked and let loose 5.8 .
again i rebaited the hooks and a gentle lob soon saw this rod back in position.
blimey i thought 3 zeds banked and its not even 6pm yet another 30 minutes past and nothing had happened and i was thinking that the feeding spell was over how wrong was i cause just at that moment the end rod was off once again and i was on it very quickly and this zed was putting up some restence but was again soon overcome i had just weighed it at a weight of 8.4 and was getting ready to take some pics when one of the other rods shot off the fish was put into the net and quickly dropped in the water next to the rod i struck and the zed i was attcched to now stayed deep and tried to get into the reeds i applied gentle pressure and the fish turned but stayed deep this felt like a really good fish and i released a turn on the clutch just in case it tried to try and get deep again ,a fractic couple of minutes past and soon the fish flandered on the top and was sliding over the net string to join its smaller mate i peered into the net as i could not wait till i got it up to the mat and it looked big soon i was at the mat and i quickly release the smaller one with out a pic but soon weigh the other which went
what a cracker i thought and and soon had several shot of the beast i took it to the waters edge and gave it one last look before i wish it well and watch it slowly drift into the depth .
again i redecorated the trebles with a small dead bream and cast it out into its spot and sat back a really happy bunny thinking blimey i just had 21lb of zeds in my net.
i relaxed with a smkoe and a coffee thinking of how the session had gone but soon my attention was once again directed to my middle rod as the bream seem to come alive with the asistance of a fish trying to make of with it i again ( now tired) scramble down to the rod and struck into it and again it stayed deep and all sorts of thoughts were going through my mind as the zed gave a good account for itself and did not give up easerly but i soon had it thrashing on the surface and slid it into the awaiting net and this looked like another good fish once again i weighed it and the scales stopped at 10.8 and i took some more pics fish was released i cast the rod back out and sat back exhausted and as the next hour past with out a run i was not dissapointed and was really happy with the session and went home .

Talking Re: zeds

Fantastic report BM what a session 21lb of Zander in the net at the same time...phew

I can only dream on, aint nowhere around this part of the world with big fish like that, maybe River Severn but most fish down jere are in the 3-5lb bracket, when you can find them.

Keep up the reports

Re: zeds

you are probably right that the severn is your best bet and it is one of my target waters along with the warwickshire avon and i will gather information on locations of the zeds and then will be putting in a plan of attack on both waters in the near future just to add more capture of zeds from other waters apart from the fen drains which is the place where it all started all them years ago
