session report

well as i promised i would let you know how the session went well here goes
on arrival i had a quick look around and was well pleased to see that with the heavy rain they had started to pull the drain which was excellent, strow flows and coloured water normaly good zander conditions once the swim was selected rods were place in likely area and rig were kept simple, ledger paternoster rig with small live bait, a fixed paternoster rig again with a livebait and a ledger stem with a deadbait once all rods were out i retired to under the brolly as the weather was pants on arrival but with twenty minutes i was scurry down the bank to my first run which turned out to be a small pike of about 9lb it was soon brought in and handed out to be unhooked and quickly released back to the murky depth soon the rod was despatched back out to tight against the inside shelve and a quick check of the rods i soon sat back in my chair and after about half an hour i was alerted to some murder and mayhem going on to my far rod i was up like a gazelle on speed and soon scurrying down the bank to the now indicator screaming out hit me Hit me HIT MEEE! i swept the rod back and a satisfying arc came over my hand built 2lb test balista and the pleasing thump of a zed could be felt shaking it head trying to make it escape soon i had the zed floundering on the surface and was soon safely over the draw string of my waiting net mesh was gathered up and was taken up to my unhooking mat and the zed was quickly unhooked and slipped into the weigh sling where a weight of 8lb 14oz was recorded a few trophy shots were taken and the fish was released back to reek more havoc amongst the shoals of prey fish . soon the dead bait was back in position and once again another blank has been avoided after a very quiet next hour i rebaited all the rods and again sat back on my chair waiting and i was soon down to my rod at which point the culprit aborted its run and managed to escape capture once again the rod was back out and i started to think that the feeding time had finished and after about another quiet hour the dead bait rod was off and i was quickly onto it again sweeping the rod back but alas i struck into nothing i put the rod back out and gave it another half an hour before packing up and heading back home thinking of what might had been missed and also was content in what i caught but i will be soon back out on the drain after that giant from the deep
