Re: Celtic lakes ,frisby thanks to both of you i was going to take some gear to catch my own dead\live bait as it is allowed here, i was thinking about the fens but i dont have the first clue about where to fish on them and to be honest i dont really know where 'fenland' is i have googled the area and seen all the drains but wouldn't know where to start so thought a stocked lake would be a easier option till i get the confidence in my rig\bait choice ect ect also how is access and parking to the fishing area's on the fens ? any info on areas in the fens would be helpfull too

Re: Celtic lakes ,frisby Ok mate, no probs, the best drains and rivers are anywhere from west Norfolk down to Cambridgeshire. For starters I would target either the Ramsey forty foot drain or the Great Ouse around Ely as both have a good head of Zander and can be fished on a day ticket. Bait catching is relatively easy unless its bitter cold with first light and dusk into the first hour of darkness for the Zeds.

Re: Celtic lakes ,frisby No worries, Look for match fishermen and the Pike and Zander wont be too far away.Better still, buy ordanance survey landranger 143 and this will give you a good idea of the waters available to you. In the winter months Zander are not so widespread so it will pay to stay on the move to locate them. Also theres loads of info on this site on methods, baits, location etc that you wont go far wrong. Best of luck Andy
