A couple of trips

Tuesday 25th October

I turned up at the pit around 2.30 pm to find a couple of local anglers that I know fishing the swim that I was hoping for. The two anglers had been there most of the day without a bite from the Zeds, Roach or Bream, things were not looking good. As the two were planning to leave around 5.00pm, I decided I would fish from my moored boat which is twenty yards or so along the bank and then jump into the swim when the anglers left at five, giving me four hours fishing before I planned to leave at nine.

I fished three rods, all baited with dead Rudd, it was the only bait I had on me. After approx twenty minutes I had a confident run which I connected with, after a spirited fight I landed a Zander around the 7lb mark. Just before 4.00pm, I had another run that was dropped before I could strike. That is all the action I had from the boat.

Around 5pm, I moved my gear into the now vacant swim. Within twenty minutes I had a run which resulted in a 7.3/4lb Zander. I am sure it was the same fish that I landed the week before. I had numerous dropped runs up to 9.00 but I could not hit any of them.

Saturday 29th October

I arrived at the pit around 3 pm, and set up for the night in my swim. I was fishing three rods, one baited with dead Rudd, another with Trout and the third with Eel section. The fishing started slow, but after a couple of hours I had my first run which I hooked, a nice looking 4lb Zander. That was it until around 7.30, when my Rudd dead bait was taken, again another Zander of around 4lb was landed. Just after 8.00pm I had a run and knew straight away that this was a good fish. After a good fight I landed a Zander bang on 11lb.

Sorry about the picture, I had left my camera in my truck and my fishing partner was off watching Chelsea get stuffed

The rest of the night was very quiet until the early hours of Sunday morning. I then had a run which I connect to, again another big Zander was on, I played the Zander for over five minutes and as it surfaced in front of me the hooks pulled .

I had one more run resulting in a small Zander around the 2lb mark. A good evening, except losing a decent fish.
