one zander

Hi guys, me and my son are on a mission(challenge) to try and catch all the british freshwater species in one calender year! now im guessing that Zander is going to be one of the trickiest so i was wondering as a start point if anyone could give me any ideas on decent (easy if there are any) venues and months etc where we might be able to catch one? Size is not a issue nor is travelling distance, we just need one Zander! Many thanks in advance

I have to thank three of the local members for their time and information. I probably would have struggled without their help, so thank you Gery T, Echelon Pest and Cabbychris.

Saturday 22ND

It was chilly day and the Zander did not play ball, but the company made up for it. As usual Richard was on form

I did managed a small Zander, sadly the only one of the day, it was the only bite I had as well. Caught on a Rudd dead bait.

TJ and Flyn managed a small Pike, just reward for Flyn for the time spent in the freezing temperatures.
.

It was nice to see a couple of younger anglers out with the mob.

I was good to get in the warmth of the Pilot Inn. the food was good, a couple ciders went down a treat. I need to thank Pingu, TJ and Richard for sorting out the bluetooth on my Blackberry. We had a good laugh,

It would be nice to have another meet soon, preferably when the conditions are more favorable for catching Zander.

Pingu, I will of course bring along a hedge cutter, PPE and if things are tough a stump grinder

Thanks to all for a good day

Darrell

Hi

It is a bit warm for the Zander now, you can catch them now but they will struggle to revive and with all the young fish about it will be a bit more difficult. Best times will be the end of September through to March.

The nearest place to you would be Bury Hill in Surrey. I have never fished there so I cannot comment on how the place fishes. I fish the Fens, including Roswell pits and have had some good sport over the last few years with only a couple of blanks.

You are more than well come to join me for a day or two later in the year

Good Luck

Darrell
