2011 Forum Zander Meet Details

The general concensus seems to be that we should move the meet to Sat 22nd January due to the possibility of the canal being frozen, so 22nd of Jan it is. No hard and fast start times as it's not a competition. People generally turn up and start fishing as soon as they arrive, usually around mid-morning. We then (Weather depending) fish on into the first couple of hours of darkness before heading off to the pub (Pilot Inn Hardwicke) to warm up, have a meal, a few beers & a bit of a social

Day tickets are sold on the bank & as I recall are about £4-5 a day

Heading northbound on the A38 past Quedgley, go straight ahead at the main traffic lights on the A38 / A430 junction. Go over the new canal bridge & then turn left at the traffic light shown by the red circle (First exit)
and you follow the road back down to the car park. I shall contact the water bailiff & hopefully arrange for the gates to be unlocked when we arrive.
Previously we fished to the right of the bridge & caught well, so we shall probably do the same for this meet. However with the numbers who have said they are attending this year it may be better if we fish both sides & cover more water.

Ian - Be worth checking availability of the section with the BWB ASAP.

Due to family commitments I won't be able to join you guys for Meal / Drinks

However I plan to be there at first light and fish 'till about 3. If weather is dry'ish I'll probably adopt a roving approach.

Do you know something I we don't mate? If it's booked for a match or something, we can always move down to Hardwicke or somewhere. What have you heard?

No, I've not heard anything Ian - I guess though that if 'a n other' club or org want that section then BWB will take that booking (Unless we have an agreement/booking with them first). I know the canals out of favour match wise these days and it's probably an unlikely senario. Sure we could move but some precious angling time would be lost - especially for those coming from far away. I don't know the BWB bailiff but think I saw a posting of his name/no on another thread. Does Rich know who he is? Maybe a call to tell him of our intension would make for a hassle free day. ;-)

Spoke to Kev the bailiff today. No double booked matches to worry about. He's going to unlock the gate for us, so we can park down by the canal. The chain will be wrapped around the gatepost, but the lock will be undone.
