Zander & Crabs ! in the Fens

Hi guys,
I've had a great October, in the Fens, for Zander this season catching 22 fish to 9lb 7oz so far and off again tomorrow. Problem Im having now is that the fish have appeared to thin out a bit and I am getting plagued with crabs, they mutalate my roach baits and seem to be on them within seconds after every cast. This particular drain is relatively shallow and I never usually fish popped up baits but I think im now gonna have to to get round this problem.

Forget the crabs name but apparantly comes from china and is now becoming widespread over the fens. Has anyboby come across this problem before? Do you think the Zeds would eat crabs dead or alive?

I take it you mean Chinese mitten crabs? Feckers are taking a hold as big as signal crays now

Not too sure if they would eat them :
personally i would take them home and eat them
