Re: zander fishing in essex?

Hi

Is the venue you are fishing known for Zander? Location is the hardest part then comes the rigs etc...

If the venue is known for Zander you may need to spend some time night fishing especially if the water does not have much colour.

Read the match reports or get local knowledge of where the Roach, Rudd and skimmers are being caught, the Zander wont be far away

I have found that Zander feed for several hours at most then seem to disappear and then return later on, you may go many hours without a bite but you need to find them first

Over cast and windy days do offer a better chance of catching during daylight but each venue is different and that will change during the year

I spend most of my time fishing on the fens and catch the majority of my Zander after dark but have had some cracking day times when the cold weather is here

Your tread mentions the baits you are using, it is a very varied variety of baits to be used in one session, try sticking to live and dead Roach and Rudd for a couple of sessions until you find them and then experiment with other baits to attract the larger specimens

Be prepared to miss a good percentage of runs and be patient, once you catch a few you will be hooked

Never heard of zander in the Thames ! (MIGHT BE WRONG) As far as I know you will have to drive up M11, then A11 to the Fens

Re: zander fishing in essex?

Type in zander in the Thames on Google, some links will come up,

I will look later and if i find any good info i will forward it on

I do think that the Fens will be your best option, it is not too far for you

When i fancy a go at Barbel fishing i drive down towards Worchester, i know then i am giving myself a better chance of hooking some, the same aplies to Zander, find the venue that will give you a chance

i went to Bury Hill years ago, for the price of a day ticket you can get a season ticket elsewhere, but
there are zander in the thames and in the Lea, an 8lb was caught at Rye House, zander from Stanboro lakes got in years ago.
