A tale from the ouse Had a few hours at Ten Mile Bank last Thursday. Fishing with eel section on size 8 trebles at the business end of a running paternoster. The John Roberts paternoster booms are a delight to use. No zander unfortunately but nontheless a pleasant day in the country air victualled with freshly brewed tea made from water boiled in the kelly kettle. Lovely Mind you the farmers were busy. John Deere’s towing trailers full of beet on the narrow road broke the tranquility, as did a particular driver of a silver BMW who raced down Church Road at a ridiculous speed. Stinger for you next time my boy.

Re: A tale from the ouse Hi, i've been wanting to have a go at Ten Mile Bank for some time now. I live down in Suffolk, maybe you can give me an idea of where it might be best to try, for some of these Zander.

Re: A tale from the ouse Thanks for the replies fellas. Yes a beautiful place to fish with a great view over the fields when the weathers good. The sight of great white plumes of steam emanating from the British Sugar plant at Wissington is a sight to see even from a distance. My favourite spot is indeed near the railway bridge on the corner just before the house. Just got myself a nice bivvy, so will be able to spend more time on the bank in comfort, not worrying about the weather. I've made up a number of single hook rigs using size 1, 2, 1/0, and 2/0 aberdeens. Hope to be back there for a session sometime next week... and a zander or two.

Good luck JF. we had about four un-successfull forum Zander meets on the Sharpness canal befor we managed to catch any. But it was worth it in the end.. __________________ "The fish and I were both stunned and disbelieving to find ourselves connected by a line." William Humphrey "

Re: A tale from the ouse Hi mate, Ive fished the railway bridge swim myself in the past with no joy other than two small jack pike. I reckon TMB has loads of potential for big pike and zander, although its never an easy area with double the depths of the Ely Ouse in many places.
