Re: Zander sharpness canal the meet

Nice report ! Wish I could have been there. Just a thought, when I used to go pike fishing - normally deadbaiting with sprats or roach, I used to open the bait fish and insert a cube of polystyrene then bind it closed with bait elastic. This had the effect of lifting the bait off the bottom and clear of any weed or snags. Don't know if would work with Zander but I had good results with Pike. I use the same principal over here when night fishing for trout using a small piece pushed on to the hook before the lob worm bait - again good results !
All the best
Doug

Re: Zander sharpness canal the meet

What a great day it was...even though I was the only one deprived of a Zander.
Great to have fished with the boss again for a change...Richard, you need to get out more , also a pleasure to have finally met Lee.

I have come to the conclusion that Greenheart is my Jonah and that he keeps jinxing me.....guess it's 'pay back' time for the the mick takes on his 'ruffe' hunt........thanks for the lift and the ginger wine mate

Steve...thanks for the bizarre but very tasteful peanut butter and cucumber sandwich

Now to Pingu.....you have got a heck of a lot to make up for not delivering the pingu pies...it'll cost you 'double pies' next time

me and a friend tried down the other tow path to the left over xmas, we'd never gone for pike/zander before as we usually go for carp, suffice to say we blanked. whats the canal like for preds?? i also hear you can pull some strong fighting carp out of the canal aswell?
