Anyone point me in the right direction, for catching Zander on the Thames.fished for pike for years and caught plenty but never a Zander. So any tips on location , tackle ,baits , books or anything else to do with Zander would be of help. Martin G

Re: New to Zander There are Zander in the Thames, although they are in isolated pockets. The EA perfomed a species programme in the Middlesex area and Zander were certainly in residence. I would ask any local tackle dealers in the area for areas to try. Regards Andy

Re: New to Zander Also If you can find any areas where there are drop offs or undulations on the river bed this will help. Try and use small coarse lives/deads for bait with scaled down Pike tackle ie size 8 and 10 trebles and also keep reistance down with small floats or if legering use large diameter run rings and free running rigs. Dusk into dark is a fantastic time for Zeds so dont pack away too early and best of luck.

Re: New to Zander Dont underestimate the thames weve had them to 8-8 this season but you really need a boat , good spot to try is bell weir a wrasbury a mate of mine had a 10 pound fish from the colnebrook back in the late 1980s, large doubles are caught but kept quiet,,,,,
