Roswell Pits nr Ely

Hi

Myself and a mate are looking to catch our 1st Zed, can anyone let me know if these pits can be fished on a day ticket and are they any good?

Any help would be appreciated.

Lee

Thanks perch king, I will let you know how we get on. Why and when did roswell close? Found a web site that states it is £5 a day?

Re: Roswell Pits nr Ely

hi

i am a member of the Ely Beet fishing section, only £25 ish so pretty good value, i have not had any letters to say "no fishing", also i had a look there on saturday on my way back form blanking on the Middle level and there were no signs to say it was shut...so

i would say if you wanted to try Roswell give it a go, overnight off EA section but be aware the gate gets locked, or up the sailing end. usual baits work, lives if you can catch them, or a lamprey, the Zander are there but it can be patchy

the lazy otter is perhaps a good place to try for a night , cast across towards the moored boats but watch out for a snag at the end of the pool where the river narrows

Hi mate, Another good water to try would be the Old West River at Earith as its crammed with Zeds and this time of year is spot on.
Many of the well known waters ie Middle Level and Relief Channel can be realy tough going but Roswell is also worth a punt with some nice Pike in there also.

Best of luck and let us all know how you get on
andy

Re: Roswell Pits nr Ely

ANy good on Roswell lst sunday chaps ???

I looked at the sailing club area but there were too many boats to fish of the boards and the wind was right in your face on the railway bank and i didnt fancy that so i whimped out then toured around the area looking for inspiration and ended up at the old west where i caught a few livees and a jack pike in the sfternoon then a nize condition zander about 6lb once it got dark but although i expected more not another touch, though i had to pack up at 8pm

Out again this Friday/Saturday so its either the middle level of roswell for the night
