Hi Tony, Sounds good mate - I have to say though, my fishfinder 'car' battery is loaded into a small box basically in order that it is protected from the elements as opposed to saving space. I've seen those BIC boats, one was featured in a P&P article - they look the biz. For the fishing I do, a small boat is the business, I've even used mine on the 20ft! Regarding the Electric engine, using mine in conjunction with the 110 battery, so far it has lasted me for a full day out with no troubles at all. I'm always careful to charge it after a day though. There's a little digital power reading on the top of the engine and if it reads 7 at the start of the day, its only ever on 4 or 5 after a good 6 hours use so I am well happy with it. As I mentioned earlier, because the boat is only a 10ft plastic jobbo the engine in 5th gear pushes it along well quick, with nothing else in it, it'll lift the end of it. I am actually going to use the boat in the summer to 'transport' me and my bivvy kit to some of the more remote stretches a the odd fenland drain / river. Should save on ticket money as well, as no one will know where I am etc. I just need to train the missus to drive the car with a trailer and take it back after I'm dropped off lolol Kind regards, Dave

Re: Gloucester & Sharpness Canal - Fishing from a small boat i'd say the BiC i have, the smallest one, is ok on small enclosed waters with minimum stress, i can see it would pitch you over the side if you were not "boat aware" and i consider my self as such after years of sailing etc but i think it could slip away beneath you if you were too high up and not careful, you "shipping" the gear reminds me of when i transported my gear.... on roswell.... the 3 yards around the locked gate lol and then i pitched up for the evening in the boats, luvly jubbly...until the Commodore and friend arrived plus J the Baliff as i had been spotted from the club house and the warned me off, as it was dusk i said "cant do that in the dark, very sorry etc grovel, i'll go first thing in the morning" ok they said...... two nines that night lol, shame i cant get back in the boats as it was the best bit for night zedding i've found, been a bit grim on there recent hence a switch to the middle level, at least its somewhere differento blank lol weather looks wet for the wekend, lets hope it turns them on as been v dry of late good luck with the misses!!! tony good luck on the river

Re: Gloucester & Sharpness Canal - Fishing from a small boat I know JP the bailiff very well indeed, I first met him back in 97 and although we didn't exactly get off to the greatest start - we ended up on very good terms. I'm finished on the river for this season now Tony, I'm moving onto a gravel pit for 2 x 2nighters next week, I've had em up to doubles in the past and will hope for a real belter if the conditions are good!!! Good luck for you Tony! Kind regards, Dave
