Fishing Coventry canal @ Atherstone

New member to forum. Looking to fish the Cov canal at Atherstone locks, anyone got any tips for this venue?

Other local areas been suggested to me are Stoke Golding (Ashby), Polesworth (Ashby?). Any information on these veunes is greatly appreciated as the canals are a long stretch & I could be in completely the wrong area, doing the wrong thing!

Cheers,

BobT

Re: Fishing Coventry canal @ Atherstone

The inlaws own a boat at stoke golding on the ashby, I have has some very good fishing in the actual boatyard. Some large carp in there and last year a 30lb + pike was pulled out. (I have seen the pics to prove it happened!) I personally have had carp to 10lb out of it (seen bigger ones lazing around in the sun). As for the actual canal never had a whole load of luck, but then never really tried as had the boat yard to fish in.

Appreciate thast may not be all that much help but best I can offer

Thanks for the reply.

If it's the canal basin jsut up from where the Ashby boat company operate from I know it. It does also have some big Zeds in , as one of the boat yard guys fishes it regularly - no chance of 'Jo public ' fishing it!
