| Re: new guy Hi Jon, Whilst I've been into Zander fishing for nearly 15 years, I've only got into Lure fishing for them in the last month or so. I've been fishing quite a deep (by our standards) 15ft or so venue from a little boat. I've only had a couple of trips so far but have been quite encouraged to have landed a few, as yet nothing big. The lures I've been having a bit of success with have been small Shads about 3 -5in long and in all colours. By trolling underneath features very slowly on the slowest speed of the electric motor, I then cut the power and allow the wind to gently blow the boat along. I've had a fair few takes which may have been shy Zeds or indeed Perch; but I tend to find the real proper takes occur as the retrieve is stopped and the lure sinks back to the bottom. Incidentally, I ensure the lure 'bumps' along the bottom during the retrieve. Kind regards, Dave |

| Re: new guy Lure fishing is to me the best way to fish walleyes here. The bottom is to rocky with busted up pieces of concrete. I use a small jighead with either a twister tail or a small shad body. I try to tip it with either a small minnow or some man-made enticer. I had the pleasure the other day to watch one of our law enforcement officers catch a couple guys that were in possession of more than their legal limit. Not sure what it is gonna cost them but I am sure it won't be enough. Let me know if any of you guys want to trade a few small artificials. I think it would be kinda neat to try something that I have never tried before. |
