| Anyone see it today...?? Matt Hayes and Mick Brown, fishing for Zander with lures and dead baits? Remarkable show - I confess to knowing absolutely zilch about fresh water fishing - but that I would love to try.... ....Kevin (Baitmaster), no the wonder you love them zeds mate...what a hard scrapping fish....I would love to give that a go... | Re: Anyone see it today...?? yes they are truly an awesome fish not just for there fighting qualities on light gear but they look amazing too especially when photographed in day time like this one below (this picture inspires me to go after them every time i look at it ) ![]() i truly i am privileged to be able to fish for this magnificent fish after they were introduced into the relief 43 years ago . if you seriously want to have a go let me know towards the autunm and i,ll see if we can,t arrange a session for you to have a go i know others have also expressed and interest into wanting to have a go to . tightlines kevin ![]() |

| Re: Anyone see it today...?? its very difficult to know exactly where zander have spread to but since the original 97 fingerling zander were put into relief channe back in 1963 this is how far they have spread through out England not sure if there are any near you john but some of these places might not be to far away there will no doubt be other places where they have spread to via river systems or by the help of man that i don,t yet know of but i,m all ways looking and are interested in any reported captures through out england to update my map of zander .. where abouts all the fen drains cut off ,relief channel, the old bedford ,the delph , the middle leve,l well creek, popham eau ,the new popham eua, morton's leam ,sixteen foot ,the forty foot ,the twenty foot (there are probably other small drains i,ve not i have not mentioned ) the river ouse the little ouse river wissey Roswell pits wyboston lagoon River Severn, river Avon(Warwickshire), Stratford and Grand Union canal Counter Drain, North and South Drove Vernatti,s river yare (first reported capture this year ) Oxford Canal, Gloucester Canal Birmingham to Worcester Canal Bury Hill Frisby Pits Wintons Fishery River Welland.. Woburn Abbey river lea River Glen The Coventry canal The River Soar, Trent & Mersey canal South Holland Drain Rutland and Graffham waters Teme (Lower reaches (not above Powick weir) Thames (Upper reaches) Trent (Lower Tidal reaches) probably through all the Trent system now The Suffolk Stour Abberton Reservoir (Arrived via pipelines from the fens). claydon lakes Tydd Cut French Drove River Cam river lark the nene system tightlines kevin ![]() Last edited by baitmaster; 04-07-2007 at 07:34 AM. |
