well me and my mate decide to go fishing for the zeds on a venue after he turned up 1 hour and a half later to pick me up. and i thought im setting up in the dark well as we go there it was pitch black could not see a thing. and i dont like setting up in the dark but any way i decide to fish a swim what the swans was in. so i scare them out dont know why i choose that as i always fish far away from them. but any how got the rods setup got the baits on and off they went out. and my mate was still setting up. but after about 10 mins all the rods was out and then i went and settle in my mates swim sitting in his bivvy listing out for my alarms in a distance. well it was all quite for a while just odd beeps but it was weed hitting the lines maybe drains was pumping but leads stayed down on the bottom so god knows. but then i said to my mate lets have a brew so there we was drinking the coffee and then i herd my alarm sound going off thought it was my mate at first. so then i ran to my swim it was running quite slow so then i hit it and i was on it was heavy but not fighting. i could feel it shaking its head and i said to my mate its a double figure zed mate. he said dont be daft i said it is lol so then up it came and it was a pike. it see me mate and god did it put up with a fight then but finally got it in with a big smile on my face. and unhooked it i said to my mate that's a double so he got the scales in the sling it went .and it top dead on 15lb i was gob smacked its my new pb pike i was over the moon.

so then bait up again then out it went waiting for more fish. but time went by and nothing then hours went by and still nothing so then i started to change the rods about in other places. and hope my bait had landed on there nose still nothing even my mates rods was sitting there doing nothing . i said to him give it an half hour and call it the night he said ok so then i walked to his swim for a brew off coffee and talking about the zeds and pike it was over cast all night i said im hoping for a zed before the season end. then suddenly my alarm was screaming swinger going mad bait running spinning i said what the hell is on the end off that. any way i hit it and guess what i missed it my mate said how the hell did you miss that i said tell me about it. i was gutted i mean gutted i then reel in and the bait was mangle to bits. i said how the hell did it not get hooked the bait was about 2 and a half inches long trebles was bigger then the bait. so i thought it must off dropped it just as i hit it and missed and im still gutted now as i write. loved to have seen what it was trust me it ran like a steam train never see a run like that before off a predator fish.

so then i said to my self Ive had enough that it call it the night and so we packed up and made a safe journey home till next time ill get it.
