Friday coming

I`ve got a day off on friday and the weather looks fine enough to take my little "Sophie Lou" out on the briney. Light NE. Building to spring tides though. 0800 hrs 12.6mts.....20.30hrs 13.1 mtrs. Should I fish the ebb or the flood or should I fish a bit of both around low tide which is at 14.15 hrs???

Nice one Mike and thanks. Looks like the Easterly is building to 17mph now so I could have a wind over tide situation again on the flood if I went to Sully. Looks like I might have to stick to the foreshore or rannie. Or maybe I could follow the last couple of hours of the ebb down to Sully and come back up just on the turn.....depends on the wind situation I suppose.

By the way, and purely for info, Garry Evans in Newport are talking about reports of Codling from the breakwater at Porthcawl.

Thumbs up Re: Friday coming

Tight lines Keanu. Good news on the Codling. Interesting article about cod fishing from the shore at Aust in this months Sea Angler magazine. Going to give it a try in October / November time.

Will be very uncomfortable in an easterly anywhere off the foreshore/penarth,sully would be your best bet,but with that amount of easterly against the tide, you`ll be in for an Alton towers ride thro the Rannie....and it`ll be worse at low water !!!...

I read the article mate. Very interesting. I didnt even know codling ventured that far up the river. But I was talking to Clive Vedmore the other day and he said the cod/codling go well up into the severn. Very dangerous though apparently. Dont venture onto the shiny mud because you`ll slip into the channels and wont get a foothold to get back out again. I`ve never been there but it sounds scary .
