| took your advice charter skipper. I`ve managed to find a brand new starter motor for my boat. A place called the Engine room, Marine engine supplies in Hayling Island, Hampshire. They`ve got a great website www.mareng.co.uk. Not only that but it gets delivered tomorrow for only six quid overnight parcel delivery. So it looks like I might have a boat for the weekend after all. Trouble is now the weather looks sh*te. My other starter is still with Sully Marine. Its been there for 2 weeks now. I`ve been in touch with them 3 times in that period. I phoned them yesterday and they told me that the part is on back order (whatever that is). Apparently there is not another part in the country and is on order from America. Thats funny because i`ve also found out that these older Merc engines were made in Belgium. Maybe the Americans get them from Belgium and then sell them to us Brits. Are we the effin mugs here or what !! Anyway after the 2 week delay already, I was told that this order from America could take weeks or even Months. I dont know what to do about the thing now (presuming that this new one fits and works ok). Do I leave it there and let him contact me when its repaired as he suggests, then keep it as a spare, or do I go and get it back off him and cut my losses. The part they replaced which has caused the trouble again is still only 6 months old so can I claim a refund for the price of the original part ?? 33 quid is 33 quid after all. The new starter is £112 inclusive of p+p and vat. Hardly worth the hastle really I suppose. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |
