well i fish off the peir close to the marina the fishing there can be good or can be a bit dodgy, i use squid almost exclusively with mackrel now and then....as for a skipper not minding a beginner along try the blue thunder i've never boat fished in my life and i've spoken to him and he was quiet happy to have me along, but it'd be best to ask him yerself i think 01792 845786 is the landline or the mobile is 07703 797974

as your an experienced angler i wont go into the whole fixed spool ideal for beginners over multipliers thing.
