I live in gloucester so understand an hour or two drive might be needed ( Hence fishable in all states of tide )

Re: S.Wales fishing spots

You probably need to go west of Cardiff to find a mark that is fishable at all states of the tide. My area is really only suitable 2 hours either side unless you fancy a muddy (and dangerous) walk, also too much risk of getting cut off when the tide comes in. There's always Penarth pier but I don't think you can fish of it through the tourist season.

Re: S.Wales fishing spots

penarth pier is only open 8.30 - 6.30 i think.

there is a charge for fishing there and you are only allowed to fish the top half.

it can also be pretty crowded due to the opening times, and with being an easy place to fish lots of tourists.

lead sizes 4-6 depending on tidal run

porthcawl pier is open all the time and theres no charge.

can get crowded after 4pm due to the kids finishing school. still get a few tourists but thats the usual for sea side resorts.

lead sizes are again 4-6. for the first 2 hours after top i switch to long wires (the kind used for uptiding) as it helps with the tidal run and when theres a few fishing you know theres gonna be tangles

theres also mumbles pier aswell. not sure bout this place though. all i know is its open till 8.30
