Sudbrook

Heard at the weekend that Sudbrook is producing quite a few cod so went down for a quick look this morning (working so couldn't fish). There was only one person fishing and he was just returning a small codling when I got there and backed up reports that quite a few cod have been caught there. He was fishing rag which has apparently been the best bait down there.

Cool Re: Sudbrook

Nice bit of info Mark....any reports of Pike there

Nice to hear the Codling are still showing...but they should be dropping back down the Channel soon...making way for the Skate, Conger, Sole and BASS

Re: Sudbrook

Do you get much bass coming up the Channel? I haven't heard of any being caught from the shore in the Newport areas. Mainly sole, ray and conger in the summer.

Wink Re: Sudbrook

Hi Pross,

Yes mate Bass are caught regularly...the only thing is some peeps keep it quiet

Not so much your side of the channel more this side...look for shingle banks with small sandy areas at low tide...that's where you'll find them

Re: Sudbrook

I fished Sudbrook back in September and caught a nice codling with lug.

Havent tried again because on a big tide it usually gets absolutely rammed - Mark if you go let me know and Ill join you BUT be warned a decent tide and time and you will need to there at least three hours before HT and it wont fish until two hours before !!

Good little mark though and quite safe - was going to try it last week but failed and needless to say cod are showing - arse .................

Bass in the summer from our area - didnt realise the channel produced so many types of fish - cannot wait to get out bassing !!
