Me and Juan are looking to fish off Redwick soon and wandered two things :

Pross and any others do you fancy coming along as its pretty close.

Secondly Old Smooth can you let me know exactly where this is. I know youver posted before but I couldnt find the bl**dy place when I drove there last week. Are we fishing off the rocks onto smooth ground there ?

Thanks mate

Re: Redwick area .....

Richard,

Glad you will be up for that - the problems Im having is that there are two Redwick areas - one either side of the bridge and aint sure which one everyone is talking about !!

Anyway I met up with Juan Pablo last Friday for my first night fish. Had a great time except only catching snoop dogs but just wanted to say cheers - a good introduction to other fishermen in other areas.

Will sort this out and let you know.

Re: Redwick area .....

Yep, Redwick on the Welsh side is reached by getting off the M4 at J23 (Magor) and heading towards the rear entrance to Llanwern steelworks. Just before reaching the steelwork gates turn left and it is then sign posted I think. I haven't been down to the sea wall there but think you may need to park in the village and then walk a bit (have been told it is quite muddy). I can fish any evening next week except Wednesday. High tides on Monday and Tuesday should be around 18.00 - 19.00 and I would normally fish 2 hours either side. If you fish a couple of miles at Sudbrook you can reach deepish channels at lower tides.

Cool Re: Redwick area .....

Hi Pross and JP,

At Redwick you will be fishing over mainly mud with odd shingle/sand banks closer in if you zoom into Richards multimap you will see a lane that goes down almost to the sea..... near the breakwater. You have to go down through the village and the lane opens up a little it is one long sea defence, i am not sure of the other spots such as Cold harbour Pill. But will investigate and report back.

If its ok may come with you, but the tides have to be right for Redwick.

Cheers
Shaun

Re: Redwick area .....

High tide on Monday 25 is 18.54 at Newport and 11.5m. I'd say Wednesday 27 would be ideal, high tide around 21.00 and I'd guess about 12.0m but I can't make it so would prefer Thursday if everyone else is up for it? Might give Sudbrook a go on Monday if I get back from Devon in time.
