| Saturday out of Penarth Went out fishing with my cousin today. We went out through the 7.30 lock armed with twelve quids worth of blow lug each, squid, prawns (cooked and raw) and Mackerel. Well on my first cast I missed a cracking bite and then had to net the first codling of the day for my cuz and he hadnt even had a bite from it. Nice codling though about 3.5-4lb. Missed a few smaller knocks and stuck it out at the mid Cardiff buoy till we decided to move at about 11 o`clock. Unfortunately, the anchor was stuck fast and there was no way we were going to move it in that tide. No wonder we were getting snagged all the time if that was the sort of bottom we were fishing on. So rather than cut the rope and go back in, we decided to stay put until slack water and give it another go then. We sat there until about 2.30 without another bite between us and decided to give the anchor one more chance. Lo and behold.......up it came and off we were going out to join the big boys near the sand bar. Had a couple of small whiting knocks and eventually brought one to the boat only to see it drop off before I could haul it over the gunwail. It saved me the trouble of putting it back anyway. We decided then to get the 3.45 lock back in.....and what does Cuz do??? he brings in another spawney codling, no bite again (about 2lb this time). All in all, an eventful days fishing but I dont think there is much to be caught out there at the moment. There were a few dejected anglers in the lock on the way back in. The weather man got it wrong yet again...so much for the 7mph Northerly that the BBC forecast all week. It was more like 10-15mph North Easterly(which might also explain the lack of fish) __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |
