Re: Whiting ?

4lb is a bit optimistic, have seen them up to about 1lb- 1 1/2lb. but last year we only caught 3 all winter, they didn't seem to come up this far.

Talking Re: Whiting ?

In the mid 70's I was on a boat off Hartlepool, with some mates when Dicko hauled in a whitey of 5lb 10ozs .It was weighed on the Skippers scales, then knocked on the head for verification, photo,s publicity etc.He put it in a fish box on top of the cabin and seconds later there was a flapping sound then a splash. He had'nt hit it hard enough, and back to the depths it went.
Hard to believe but true,it's not something you forget.I've never seen a whitey near it since and probably never will.
