Big whiting! we had good run but this was 3years ago where we could not go wrong on the lambies one november night.

The whiting down south are channel whiting and they grow quiet big I think the record is 7lb plus and thre year before last out of poole in december one was landed by a colleague 3lb 8oz

If you fish falmouth there is a wreck in the bay called the whiting wreck as I,ve had fish to 3lb 2oz with the biggest on that trip 4lb 2oz and our club record then was 5lb 4oz from the same area.
these fish look like codling as they're very plump.
admittedly this was along time ago as i was with cardiff and district boat angling club then.

there is also a blue whiting that tend to run deep although we picked them up one year out sharking off plymouth in july.
