| Pi**ed off again I`ve been monitoring the BBC website all week looking at the weather for this weekend. All week and even today it has said light south -south westerly winds. I even went down the beach this morning to look at the sea state off the Rannie. It wasnt bad but the tide was going out against the wind so it would probably get better later if the wind stayed down. Whent to barry then and bought ten quids worth of rag and some squid, came back and the BBC weasther was on the telly (missus was watching it). Gale force south to south westerly winds south wales increasing with gusts to 50 MPH by mid afternoon. Turned on my PC to look at their website.......exactly the same as it said yesterday..light winds...........what do I do? which do I take notice of?Down the pub or chance it inshore? __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Pi**ed off again Hey Andy, Noticed this myself so much myself down here lately. Metchec says one thing, BBC says another and guess what. It doesnt turn out like any of them say. At the moment of writing the sun is out and light winds. Complete opposite of what was forcast. Im now off to the beach to grap some seaweed to hang outside my front door as it will do a better job than the over paid forecasters on the tele!! Humph. | Re: Pi**ed off again Good old BBC.......afraid they rarely get it right,as we`ve all found to our detriment, the inshore forecast tends to be a bit more accurate (sometimes... )...and gives strong wind warnings 24 hours in advance...You can find it here.....http://www.met-office.gov.uk/weather...ore_area9.html Metcheck is usually quite accurate also.........http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/...ipcode=Penarth |

| Re: Pi**ed off again Meant to be doing a charity motorcycle run accross the Severn Bridge tomorrow (Sunday) Hoggin the Bridge with Bridgewater Harley owners club. Forecasts awful. But the BBC website says we should be getting torrential rain & thunder here today, & as I look out of my window, there's a clear blue sky. Bit windy though. Don't know who to believe..... ![]() __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org |

| Re: Pi**ed off again Hopefully things settle down over the next couple of weeks , another couple of decent sites that I have found worthwhile are http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ and http://magicseaweed.com/ The second one is great for knowing what the swell is going to be doing a few days ahead, useful when heading further west in the summer.Good news about the 13lb cod at the mid grounds, let's hope it's the first of many. Cheers Dave |

| Re: Pi**ed off again well, ive been looking at the same website, and it says 5mph winds for hertlepool today, but ive just been down to get some rag and mackerel and its blowing 20 mph! but i think that may apply to later on, as this useful site i found also says 15 km/h winds for later on.--This is the one im on about search your port name in surf breaks then go to weather forecast or whatever thats on top of the info (wind speeds in km/h...dont go shouting hurricane! ) __________________ "Alright Jack, we all ready to fish?" | Re: Pi**ed off again well, went to the rannie after all. lots of boats tucked in there. Dropped anchor and the mother of all squalls hit me. I turned a few semi-circles around my anchor, started to fill up with rainwater (till the pump kicked in) and then it went back to normal (just 15mph). Did that a few times during the afternoon. All I was catching were strap conger every cast. Stuck that for about 2 hours. It was so uncomfortable at anchor and it looked like getting worse so I got the 4.30 lock back in. Saw my mate working on his boat back at the club and stopped for a hot chocolate and rum...What a way to finish the day off. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |
