fishing at last (the report)

finally got out on 7.30 lock out, with thoughts of what i will be having with my cod for tea? got through outer harbour to be faced with quite a lumpy sea.got out to mark just past cardiff mid but decided to go further inshore as only got asmall boat. dropped anchor about 8.30 am hhigh tide about 1pm. 3 rods out with sqid and mackeral, first bites soon after with astrap conger then a couple of doggies followed. wind started to pick up a lot at this point making it rather difficult. fished on for a bit longer with another 6 small conger coming to the boat biggest being about 8 lb.at this point decided to call it a day.got back to the lock just as mike and the lady helen was leaving, hope they had a better day than us. all in all bit dissapointed but hey we live to fight another day.

good luck andy (keana) if you get out tommorrow.

Good to hear you had a few fish Pete, was a bit swelly off Penarth, the joys of Easterlys. We headed off to Barry and the calm water ended up having a cracking day, couple of dozen conger to 20lb,dogs and a steady stream of thornbacks, with a few early whiting too. Will do a report tommoz,as i left the camera on the boat.....

Re: fishing at last (the report)

Sounds like fun to me -- if you were thinking of cod then maybe 10 - 15 worms tipped with squid pn a pennel rig might have been an idea

Re: fishing at last (the report)

Hi
Went out on the 11.30 am lock yesterday and the Easterly was lumping it up a bit , decided to head into it and fished about a mile of Clevedon, sheltered and plenty of fish. Two of us fishing and had my first codling of the season,we had 4 between 3 -5 lb and lot's of conger, ray, doggies along with a few whiting , going to eat a fillet before I drive to Sheffield this evening!

Cheers Dave
