| Fishing This weekend!! Finally have a chance to go fishing this weekend, off camping down the Gower later today, gonna pitch the tent then hit the beach!!!!! Really hope the wind picks up a touch to get a good surf rolling down LLangennith, can't wait!!! rods been collecting dust for months.     |

Well wat can i say, got down to the gower on friday and and by the time i had finished pitching the tent it was just gone 5pm, ideal time i thought to get down the beach, but, then the heavans opened up and with no wet weather gear and a gale blowing decided to give it a miss!! Saturday afternoon came and decided to go to llangennith to fish the end of the ebb and the start of the flood this was roughly about 3pm. Got to llangennith car park and wat do i see loads of cars and camper vans and there was a good wind blowing as well, that could only mean one thing!!! make the 10 minute walk to the beach and my suspicions are confirmed!! bloody surfers as far as the eye could see, not only surfers but there were kayakers, people with kites etc etc not a fisherman in sight and the conditions were ideal. Plan B Lets go to oxwich bay on the other side of the gower so, make the short drive over there and with oxwich bay sheltered from the winds, the beach was packed!!! would of fished along the cliff next to the church but the tide was too far out so would have needed to wait around so back to the tent it was!!! Sunday morning was the next scheduled trip got up at 6:30 to catch high tide of 9am. Went down to oxwich bay, sun was blearing and not much wind either set up and started fishing fished for 5 hours and not a ite how gutting is that? bait was lug, rag, mackeral and sandeels, could not get any crab which would have been ideal for the spot. And to rub it all in had the girlfriend with me who has never fished before in her life, asked me to rig up a handline for her from a spool of 20lb line and catches a bass of about a pound no more than 15 yards from where we were!! she will never let me live it down now!! So there it is guys quite an adventure just to get some fishing in but i managed in the end!! |
