Set the alarm for 5 am. Got up, drove the whole 1/2 mile to the Ranny beach. Fishing by 6.am. Fished 3 hours of the flood and 2 hours of the ebb. Two rods. One in close the other out near Flat Holme. Peeler crab, Ragworm, Sandeel, Mackerel and Squid. On its own and in various combinations. Not a bite. Even the crab was coming back untouched. I thought the beach would fish a bit better than the places my little boat can go. Wrong. I think this end of the estuary (channel) has been pretty sh*te all summer (unless anyone knows different). Maybe its better at night. But I did try at dawn. Not sure if i`m prepared to lose a nights sleep for the cause.....Bring on the Cod. I sincerely hope the winter cod season is better than this summers bass fishing this end of the channel.

Unlucky Andy, shouldn't be too long until the cod start coming in, especially if this weather round here keeps up

Autumn fast approaching....here come the cod.....ya can keep ya poncy summer fishing, give me a northerly gale, minus 4 or 5, and the thump of a cod...ahhhhh, happy days - bring it on..

Wowaaah Paul mate, lets not go overboard here.lol......I only want the cod. You guys up there are accustomed to those harsh winters. The cod down here are pussies. They`re not used to all that wind and ice and stuff. These are southern cod lol. Hate gettin me thermals out.
