Forum Boat Meet 6 Aug ...Lady Helen.

5.30 start, and off we steamed into the mist in the Bristol Channel, wind over tide made for an interesting steam down to a mark near Aberthaw.Hoping for a good day on the Smoothounds,we weren`t disapointed as Dan (Norfolk Boy) was in to and boated a Starry smoothound within a couple of minuites of the anchor going in.This set the scene for the rest of the day with 40+ smoothies boated, along with several "titchy" Tope ,that couldn`t have been more than a week old, suprisingly 1 doggie and a few strap congers and a lonely pouting.

Dan with his first boat caught smoothie.....

Closely followed with a nice "double" just over 13lb

Old Smoothound was in the fish with Starry and Commons.....

Everyone else got in amongst the fish too.....
Shads and tommy A SNR....

Tommy A

Richard caught steadily all day ,best a good "double"

Richards Dad moping up the baby tope....

Some of the days other fish....

Re: Furum Boat Meet 6 Aug ...Lady Helen.

Mike / Dan,

What a bloody brilliant day - my first ever experience of smoothies - what a fight, what a fish and they really are the best in nthe sea !

Might have taken an hour to join the party of catching them but it was a superb day - thanks very much for all your patience and skills in unhooking the fish and keeping us catching.

Managed to stay up til 11pm last night and back in work this morning for 6. 00am so Im nakered but with a sunburnt face and memories of yesterday Im sure Ill survive !

Thanks once again.

Re: Furum Boat Meet 6 Aug ...Lady Helen.

Looks like a cracking days fishing Mike. Well done to all, some good catches and a right laugh. What more can you ask for.

However,

Are you sure this was the forum crew on board Mike? From the photos, I can't see any evidence of any beer at all.... Not even in Richard's pic. Don't you think that's slightly suspicious?

Nice report mate.

Rich.

Re: Forum Boat Meet 6 Aug ...Lady Helen.

Big thanks all round. Thanks to Mike and Danny for being great skippers, they made everything so easy and were real pro's even when using a net with about 30 seperate holes

Thanks to Richard for organising the trip and letting me borrow his gear (which is probably now cursed and he shall never catch a fish on it again) and thanks to Shaun for teaching me plenty about fishing.

Thanks to the rest of the crew too for being great company and a great laugh too.

The weather Gods weren't smiling on us however, all the time we were fishing it was either drizzle or loads of cloud and mist and as soon as the rods were back in and we were heading back to the marina, of course the sun came out and fried us all.

Oh and my second smoothound pic went just over 13lb
