Monday 26th june Llantwit Major

What a lovely weekend of weather that was. But I thought i`d wait till Monday to take the boat out as I had a day off and a free pass from the missus. Well Monday morning came along with torrential rain and a gale force easterly. Sods Law LOL. Anyway, I had my free pass so I was going somewhere. So I dusted off my beach casters and headed for the clearer waters of Llantwit Major hoping for the odd Bass (or anything else that might be lurking there). Low water was at quarter to two. Started fishing at half twelve and fished in the pouring rain till half four. Not a chuffin` bite all afternoon. Rag, squid, sandeel, mackerel and hermits in all sorts of combinations. It evidently wasnt my weekend.
I`m off to Jamaica for two weeks all inclusive relaxation next Tuesday so the fishing will have to be put on hold till I come back. Dont think the missus will be too happy if I smuggled a rod on board.
Hope you all catch some big uns in the meantime.

Unlucky Keana, theres always next time though.

I'm sure you'll be able to hire some rods from somewhere whilst you're over there though mate, or maybe you'll be too chilled to want to fish.

Hiya y`all.
Just got back from my hols in Jamaica. What a place, i`d recommend it to anyone. Didnt get any fishing done though but hey..life`s a bitch. Yeah Maan. Nor prarblem maan.Lol. Rum, Rum and more Rum, Red Stripe Lager, Blue Mountain Coffee.......crap tea. Went to see Bob Marleys place, fed the crocs in the Black River, went to the Appleton rum factory and sampled 22 different Rums..."hick hick", climbed the Dunns River Water Falls up 600 ft of cascading water, snorkelling on the various reefs...absolutely brilliant.

But guess what?? I`ve got another day off on Monday and another fishing pass. I`ve read through a couple of threads to see whats been caught while i`ve been away and there dont seem to be many posts for the area.
I`ve just joined Cardiff Yacht Club as well so i`m not restricted to launching times any more. I`m thinking of going out at about 8 am monday. High tides about 11 ish and 11.7 metres. Thinking about Sully Island area. I read that a few smoothies, bass and mackerel were showing around there. Does anyone have any thoughts?? I`ve got some squid and sandeel in the freezer and i`m thinking of going to pick a few hermits.

Hi KJeena, all I can say is the fishing last night was excellent sport, 7lb Bass, 14lb smothhound, 5 Rays, 2 eels, doggies and even picked up to tope pups.
all within 2 miles of the lock. Mate had 2 Rays and doggies but still enjoyed it.

Glad you liked it, Jamiaca's the best holiday I've ever had. I got married in Runaway Bay on the north coast, went to Nine Mile where Bob Marley's tomb is, Dunns River Falls etc. Hope to get back there one day
