| aberthaw 4/6/06 locked out at 8am and made our way down to aberthaw in glorious weather and flat calm sea. found nice deep channel just opposite power stationand dropped anchor.good selection of baits today crab sand eel mackeral squid and rag.first baits downs sand eels and along came the doggies, next baits were crab, then the acton started, line started stripping off reel in a great speed of knots this is when heart started pounding and me thinking could it be my first ever smoothound,5 mins later pulled a nice starry over the side 14lb, what a superb looking beast. at this point i was well chuffed and thinking i dont mind what else comes on board now when my mate neil line starts going, after a nice little fight another starry on board this time 12lb. had about an hour then of the dreaded swansea salmon and quite a few conger rangeing from 5 to 12lb. run out of crab at this point so started using worm and squid coctails, had a good bite and reeled in a nice 8lb thornback. as the tide turned things went a bit quiet so we moved back closer to cardiff for the last hour. the wind changed considerably then so we decided to call it a day. all in all a very enjoyable day.  plugger.    |
