30th April......Late season Cod suprise....Lady Helen.

After a great mixed days fishing on the 29th,we set of hoping for more of the same,Big tides keeping us inshore for the first couple of hours.The guys on board had gone to great ends to pump fresh black and blow lug and collect a bucket full of peelers.The chance of the first Smoothie of the year was looking good with top quality crab bait on board. Unfortunatly the smoothie`s dont appear to have arrived just yet ,but the suprise of half a dozen very late season Cod,was an excellent bonus,steady stream of "doggies" kept everyone busy, with some strap congers putting in an apperance,best one a shade over 16LB.

The entertainment for the day was provided by a "knobber" in a small boat ,deciding to anchor 50 yds from the bow ,then select panic mode when he realised he could not hold bottom and was about to drag right into us,hastily trying to retrive his anchor by motoring across our bow and wrapping his anchor ,chain ,and warp around ours.After a few less than pleasant words the "knobber " decided to cut his warp and just motor off leaving us to sort the mess. .Still got another spare anchor out of the mess !!!!!

great report mike nice fish to.being new to boat fishing i keep well away from other boats, must have been very annoying for you and your crew (plonkers).
saw you heading in about 5 45 saturday as i was losing decent conger at the boat.

I didn't realise I was away so long.
Mike you really are on the ball as usual (creeping over there).
When you meet people like that it just reminds us all that there are some real numptys out there. I just hope the person reads this and gets some training before they get themselves killed.
As with everything else it's the ones that know how that make it look so easy to those that don't so they think they can.
