summer sharks

Hello all, I've just signed up to the forum and I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on the chance of fishing for shark in the lower reaches of the Bristol Channel off Swansea or Illfracombe in the summer months. I have an Arvor 250 moored at Portishead but can be off either port in a couple of hours. What is the best area to begin drifts etc, I have some sharking experience from a few years back and would love to have a go from my own boat. Any info would be much appreciated, cheers Salty Si.

Re: summer sharks

Always a chance ,you have to travel down as far as Lundy to be in with a good chance.THeres a lot of tope caught mid channel when the mackerel shoals arrive,in late summer..

Mike, is it only worth trying for the tope on the neaps over the deep trenches?

Spot on ,the smallest neaps give you a good few hours either side of low,in the deeps.......before the tide starts screeming thro.

Re: summer sharks

Thanks for your advice Mike, should be seeing you about. I was anchored about a mile inshore of you on Saturday at Sully bay, a bit quiet but as you say the summer species are starting to show.
