Sudbrook Yesterday .......What a Beaut !

Fished my local spot yesterday early morning - well 8 through til 11 as this appears about the only time to fish when others arent there !!

Got there set up and looked out with the tide rising fast - a misty old day but with the success at Ladye Bay I was hopefull of some success. Two rods baited up - one sent out a decent way with lug and squid and the other only 40 yards out with rag and squid.

Within 20 mins a nocking on my close rod and after waiting for a bite again I struck and got it right - for once. After a little effort I wound in a loveley 3 pound codling which went home for tea !!

Within the next hour I again had two more codling on the same rod with rag - both caught close in and both giving good value - one was about a 2 pounder and the other a smaller one. Returned for a better and bigger life when we catch them on the boat ina few years ........ !!!

All in all a very good day - in fact my most successful for cod and it was just great - peace and quiet and good fishing. Oh one other thing - two BIG fish jumped about 10 yards in front of me - do cod jump or were they bass / salmon ?

I just hope this continues all through the winter and doesnt stop early - very promising start to the year

Re: Sudbrook Yesterday .......What a Beaut !

Well done Tommy. Still haven't managed to fish there but sounds worth the trip. Home alone in a few weeks so if the tides are right I might go for an evening session. It was crowded on the rocks when I went past this morning! Don't think cod jump as they are normally on the bottom, maybe sea trout?

Re: Sudbrook Yesterday .......What a Beaut !

Off topic sorry but if you were lucky enough to hook into a salmon or sea trout are you allowed to take them when they are caught in an estuary?
