Penarth boat trip

Going on with mike on Lady Helen on the saturday ( weather permit )

Welsh man of the valleys and his daughter will be on the trips as well which will be good to meet them

Tackle -
well uptiding penel rigs with 4/0 on 8oz grips

Bait -
Squid , lugworm , peeler and a secret bait which I still have not decided on what to use . Fancy giving mussels a go but need to see if I can get them

Well looking forward to going although this is change over time in the bristol channel so could be a bit hit and miss

Anyone got any tips on catching the very early bristol channel cod i.e rigs and bait would be great

Going to sacrifice a KFC on friday night to the gods of good fishing . Or might sacrifice a curry ( means more room on the boat for me - hehe )

Re: Penarth boat trip

Last man to use Big prawns had a serious result,4 smoothounds to 11lb in around 45 mins !.

Weathers looking pretty ok,changing daily on the forecast tho,i`m sure a hurricane will meander thro the channel to brighten the day.

Same tactics for the cod Richard, Uptide ,BIG worm and squid baits (either half a dozen rag/lug and two big squid strips to tip the hooks,or whole squid tipped of with worms) ,long pennels with 4/0 - 6/0 `s

A few codling have showed close inshore ,but nothing off the boats yet,but its geting close to cod time, usually appear around end sept.
