| Penarth Report Sat 27 August Glorious sunshine,saw us lock out at 2pm for a days fishing with a group of anglers from Cwmbran.A short steam around to the Barry Harbour area and we were away .Baits mainly squid ,fished on 4/0 pennel rigs to long flowing traces.Wasn`t long before the first doggy of the day was aboard.The dogs have been conspicuous by their absensce recently but made any appearance in small numbers today. Generally the fishing was a bit on the slow side,a steady stream of "baby" Thornback Rays kept everyone smiling.   As the tide slackened a move to deeper water produced several decent conger ,the best of 26lb falling to Kelly,who delighted in showing the boys who it was done.  A move late in the day as the tide started to flood produced several more "baby" Thornbacks ,with Jacquie tempting a 5lb Ray just after nightfall.  All in all the girls ,well and truly showed the boys a clean pair of heals in the fishing stakes today. Baby Thornback,just having a rest before her return to the sea,the white board on the left is 10" long ,just to give an idea of the size.  Sun Setting on a pleasant days fishing      |
