abersoch

hi all ....went boat fishing on sunday 2 mile out of abersoch or Pwllheli cant remember LOL.....it was my mates boat so nice and cheap

we fished in 50 odd feet in water on muddy ground using lug and macky strips on a paternoster type rig with 3 hooks ...and straight away started catching doggies to start with and decent dabs and i caught the biggest fish of the day a 7lb bull huss
now i was amazed at the numbers of fish at the same spot we did not move all day (well for 4 hours) and we caught fish after fish loads of whiting doggies and also my mate hooked into what he believed to be a tope he struck into it and it went nuts shot of like a torpedo and eventualy bit through the line

all in all brilliant days fishing and can't wait to asked again

Cool Re: abersoch

Well done Derby

Does sound like a Tope to me especially in that part of Wales. Tell your mate that next time to use a short wire trace or 100lb mono and maybe he willl land his Tope Mackie flapper is normally a killer bait for them.

as soon as he lost it he and his dad couldn't move fast enough to set up there heavy gear LOL
apparently they took some one there last year fishing and he caught a tope on feathers they said it was 4-5 feet long ............................they haven't taken him since LOL
also we couldn't find any mackies i caught one when bringing up my tackle but other than that none were caught...although they were showing on the echo finder.....could they have been whiting ?
and there were porpoise (sp) toping and tailing right next to the boat about 20 of them .....which nice ....and perhaps explain the lack of mackies ?
