4 More Species added to the MONTYS list

Alrite folks got out again today and decided to head straight out and fish around Skoholm island and have a jig to see what is about in this cold weather with the water temp at 38f we didnt no what to expect!! and also not only was the challenge to try and add species to the list it was also a competition between us with ex welsh boat international mr kucyj on bevs team and myself and young kucyj(hugh) and it werent long before the first fish was aboard a ballan wrasse fell to mr kucyj, not long after and bevs had a small polly which hugh soon added another i also then landed a ballan wrasse which brought it back to 2 species apiece,not long after that i had a good hit and was into a fish with a bit of attitude as there was a lot of head shaking which turned out to be a cod of 3.5lb not bad for the first of the year!!!and also species no3 for us, a couple more drops and my rod bent over again which i thought was another cod but to my surprise it was a double shot of coalie which hugh was also into and that was specie no4, so with the score now at 4-2 we headed off on to the knoll and drop anchor and it werent long before bevs was into the dabs which within half hour it seemed to be lifting with them with double and treble shots coming aboard a good bit of sport had in the hour an a half we were there with 19 dabs boated!!after that we tried the old goose race which proved to be very quiet with only a few small pollys showing and 3 ballan wrasse,so as it was nearing mid afternoon we headed bk into the haven and dropped the hook at the mod and the scores at that point were 5-3 to hugh and i!!! fishing proved to be very very quiet in the haven but mr kucyj did manage a dog to put them within a point of us and at that point tryed all out to get a pouting por cod or whiting but failed miseribly and with both mine and hughs rod knocking away with doggie bites the comp was all but over and the final scored finished 6-4 to hugh and myself!!!!!!!! but all in all i think the weather had a lot to do with it, as the last couple of trips bevs and stan av creamed us!! also when gutting the cod could not believe that it was stuffed with SANDEEL!!!
