In search of the elusive mudfish ,luckily the weather man got it wrong !!!!

Headed off yesterday afternoon to Cardiff Foreshore , forecast was westerly 15 gusting 30 + , but as it over your back at this mark ,we`d be fine . s i pulled up in the car it was tipping down , John was already there ,luckily by the time we were suited up the rain stopped ,and we headed off for the long walk to the "bunker" where we could tuck in out of the wind.

A big spring tide meant we were able to walk along the shingle edge rather than across the industrial wasteland that the beach is made of ,climbed up the wall and settled in , got set up as the tide raced in,and darkness fell two rods each one with a monster cod bait ,and the other small worm segments on scratching rigs .

Wasn`t long before i had a "double hit" on the scratcher f a small whiting and a pout , plenty of fish on the small baits all night , no sizeable cod tho ,last cast John pulled out an elusive "Swansea Salmon" as i hauled in a 6" fish finger .

All in all a pleasant night , as for the forecast winds they never materialised ,it was nigh on breathless and calm throughout, shame the cod didnt play ball .....

Cardiff Foreshore looking out over the Bristol Channel, and the first fishfingers of the night

Plenty of whiting all night ,with a Dogfish and Codling to finish off the night

A few fish and the weather gods being kind is a nice result even though you never bagged a mudfish Mike .
Wind was meant to be gusting to around 40mph here but was not much more than a strong breeze.
